Flights of Fancy

More progress

Things are coming along really well. There have been some stops and starts, that’s normal, and a few days I deleted everything I’d written that day, but all for the greater good.

I’ve also been giving a lot of thought to promotion and what I can do when my books come out. I have a lot of time in hand, and I see that as a great thing. I’ve been reading blogs on promotion when I see them, and doing a lot of thinking for myself. I’d love to come up with something innovative! What is the most innovative book marketing campaign you ever saw?

Good for you on your progress, Michelle! You go!

Lately I’ve been paying attention to marketing, but I don’t know anything innovative. I posted a few links on promotion on the WF website yesterday.

Since Pocket is hooking it up with The Tudors, maybe you can do something like that. See if they have fan groups for the show like the Jane-ites have their groups for Jane Austen.

I think there will be a lot of ways I can spin the Tudor angle, Edie. I think the key is providing real value, so you bring something interesting to the table. All the research I have that I wasn’t able to use in the books might actually be useful in promotion :) .

Good luck with the marketing, Michelle. From my own experience, its tough to determine what works and what doesn’t. I’ve heard people say that mailings are great … others say not so much.

I guess Allison Brennan had the best idea what I’ve seen. Just spread herself all over the internet and made her name recognizable.
