I have some writing friends that I’ve known almost as long as I’ve lived in Australia, and Christina Phillips is one of them. She and I met at a writers’ mini-conference and have kept in touch ever since. I absolutely loved her debut novel FORBIDDEN, and I’m thrilled to say that that is the book Christina is offering everyone today.
You can get your copy of FORBIDDEN here.
FORBIDDEN is about a clash of cultures, the Celtic tribes of Britain and the conquering Romans, along with a forbidden love. What I loved so much about FORBIDDEN and the other books in this series was the Celtic backdrop and the ancient Roman time period. We don’t get enough of that! What time period of history would you like to see more of?
Hmm, I like any time period if the story is well written!
My computer died yesterday, so this may be my last chance to participate here. Happy holidays to all! Thanks for hosting this event, Michelle.
My pleasure, Kareni, and sorry about your computer!
I just wish I could get pdf copies of these free books. So disappointing when you have to either A: go through kindle, which is not reader friendly (page flip, which is intrusive, disruptive and destroys the story) or B: through some other eReader which I don’t have. I usually read ebooks on my computer.
J.Lee, I’m so sorry you have problems with Kindle. I don’t use page flip, and I’m sure you can disable it. Maybe look into that?
I want more Celtic/Roman invasion era as well. If you like historical fantasy, I recommend “Druids” by Morgan Llewellyn (spelling?). If you like paranormal romance, “Storm Warrior” by Dani Harper is partially set during that time. I also would like more books about the 1849-1850 California Gold Rush. After reading Rae Carson’s awesome teen historical fantasy/thriller “The Goldseer” trilogy, I have been wanting more.
I’ve read Storm Warrior, Heather 🙂 And thanks for the other recommendations!
Thank you, Christina! I’d love to see more stories in ancient Asia.
I’m with you there, fichen1!
Many thanks for introducing us to so many good, new authors, Michelle. And thanks to Christina for the opportunity to read in this period, which I really enjoy.
